Call of Duty: Black Ops - Review & Trailer

In a world of advanced warfare and modern combat, operations are sometimes kept secret and undocumented. Ever wonder what those operations are like? Welcome to Call of Duty: Black Ops. As seen in the trailer, this heart-pounding game centers around the untold and unseen military missions. This first-person shooter also explores a developed storyline about operative Alex Mason’s objectives during the Cold War. Mason, along with several other agents, is involved in multiple significant events of Cold War history, including the Bay of Pigs invasion, the Battle of Khe Sanh, and the assassination of President Kennedy.

Besides the riveting plot that produces roughly six to seven hours of solid solo gameplay, the multiplayer scene that comes with Call of Duty: Black Ops offers much more. With roughly 18 million units sold to date, Call of Duty will allow you to play a game with new people no matter where you look, and you won’t have to wait very long for a room to fill. But unlike other games, Call of Duty doesn’t repeat the same gameplay over and over. The multiplayer mode delivers several mission modes, including Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Headquarters. Black Ops also introduces Wager Matches, which allow players to bet Cod Points (CP), the in-game currency, in four different play modes. One in the Chamber gives players three lives and one bullet. Sticks and Stones only allows crossbows, knives, and tomahawks. Gun Game starts players with a pistol and will upgrade their weapons with each kill. Sharp Shooter assigns each player a random weapon.

Whether you’re playing alone or online, Call of Duty: Black Ops delivers plenty of variety so you never get bored. The unpredictable and dynamic single player campaign will keep you on your feet throughout the levels. Multiplayer hosts many game styles so no two matches are ever the same. Both of these modes are accompanied by astounding graphics and realistic sounds. Flawless environments feature detailed character models and a Vietnam War era soundtrack that fits in perfectly with the game’s time frame.

Developing company Treyarch has produced yet another fantastic addition to the Call of Duty series, spawning the hottest entertainment release ever. Expect Black Ops to maintain a healthy and vibrant player community for longer than the average game; this one’s not dying any time soon.
