Goldeneye 007 for the Wii seems to combine the original Goldeneye gameplay with the modern styles of Call of Duty and Halo. Shooting games have changed over the years, and this is directly reflected in the shooting style of the modern version. However, weapons are much the same and do not deviate from the classic version too much. Goldeneye 007 also allows multiple difficulties as well as a classic play mode, which serves as a tribute to the original version made over a decade ago. Goldeneye 007 does well both in respecting the work of the developers of the original game and in holding its own as a first-person shooter that is competitive in the market.
The Wii game appropriately adds and changes details that really make it seem like a total reinterpretation of the film. The game also adds destructible objects and changes the balance of stealth scenes and direct gun fights. Overall, Goldeneye 007 keeps everything totally Bond and does not attempt to revamp the entire game.
Goldeneye 007 seems to be most enjoyable in the multiplayer mode. The game clearly puts a lot of focus into online and multiplayer play, and with good reason, too. For offline multiplayer, it brings back the original 4-player split-screen play. The online multiplayer provides a lot of playtime and will constitute a large portion of the time you spend playing this game. After all, the campaign only lasts so long. Get Goldeneye 007 for a nice remake of the original game and another take on the Bond film.
